Hi! My name is Karen, I am the Owner/Director of SunshiNZ.
I am a West Coaster and have lived in Hokitika all my life……no reason to leave as it is a beautiful lifestyle and some wonderful people…we have a “Cool Little Town.” With some amazing scenery and sunsets.
A proud to be New Zealander, in 2020 I brought SunshiNZ and opened and closed my doors on the 23rd March due to level 4 lockdown…. not ideal but it was what it was!!
I knew nothing about retail when I brought SunshiNZ as I have had 38 years in the Health industry.
I dreamed of a change of occupations but had no idea what that change would look like until SunshiNZ came up for sale. I am extremely passionate about fashion and nice quality things.
Losing a fixed income was not easy but I had wonderful support from my partner for this change. I just could not let go of the opportunity to change my lifestyle. We get one chance in life…as life is not a rehearsal!!
I said 2020 was the year of change… little did I know that Covid was around the corner and even under these extreme circumstances of Covid-19 I don’t think I would change a thing…. if I had that crystal ball.
We are here for a good time and sometimes not a long time!!
